Recently I had inguinal hernia surgery done in Pune, India by a Dr. Sushil Deshmukh with the Olive Health Center.  This was a non-mesh, non-tension repair.  This type of hernia repair was invented by a Dr. Mohan Desarda that is now retired but he personally trained Dr. Sushil. 

What is inguinal hernia surgery?

Inguinal hernia surgery is an operation to repair a weakness in the abdominal wall that abnormally allows abdominal contents to slip into a narrow tube called the inguinal canal in the groin region.

What is non-mesh, non- tension repair in hernia?

Doctors may call these techniques “pure-tissue” or “non-mesh” repairs. They involve stitching the patient's own tissue back together. Each technique differs in how it tries to prevent hernias from returning. They fall into two categories: tension repairs and tension-free repairs.

Desarda MP, MS is Professor of Surgery and Division Head of the "Hernia Center" at Poona Hospital & Research Center. He is "Professor Emeritus" at "Galaxy Care Hospital" at Pune, India. His interests are in research and development in different types of external hernias. He is sole investigator on many clinical studies and has been involved in the study of a new technique of tension free, mesh free and recurrence free inguinal (Groin) hernia repair based on the physiological principle. His operation technique is now called as "Dr. Desarda Repair". His operation technique is followed in more than 61 centers now all around the globe.

The Surgery seems to have been a complete success, at this writing it has been about 13 days. 

The Hernia Surgery Consultation was done at Olive Health Center, Pune, Maharashtra, India and the main Surgical Operation was done a larger hospital complex by the name of Shree Hospital. Dr. Sushil has regular contractual access to the Operation Theater & other facilities of Shree Hospital. Dr Sushil has his consultation practice at the Olive health center but for larger surgeries he uses Shree Hospital facilities.

I am up and walking now.  I am experiencing little pain at present.  I highly recommend this type of hernia repair to anybody needing hernia surgery.

I think I caused this hernia by coughing very hard one time when i was sick.  I remember standing up and coughing very hard and feeling a stinging pain.  

Many people will have inguinal hernia surgery with a mesh.  While I was in USA one Catholic charity was going to do the surgery for me for free with a mesh but I refused the free mesh repair and chose to pay for a non-mesh repair.
